Chandraprabha Urs warns not to misuse her name

Takes exception to GTDs words in his tussle with Mysore MP

Sweeping aside the allegations made by Karnataka Housing Board chairman and former minister G T Devegowda, former minister and Congress leader D Chandraprabha Urs said that her name was unnecessarily dragged by the former in the quarrel between him and MP A H Vishwanath.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, illustrating the incident of a meeting at K R Nagar regarding selection of taluk presidents of Congress when she was vice president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), she said there was no such scene of pulling her saree as cited by Devegowda. Taking cudgels against Devegowda and Vishwanath, she warned the leaders not to misuse her name in their feud.

“Let them not tarnish my dignity amid their fight.”  Mentioning about her father late D Devaraj Urs, the former chief minister, she urged Congress party workers to utilise his name for good but not out of greed. “His ideologies and developmental works have deep rooted among public and political sector, because of which the party uses his name to gain votes,” she said.

Present politics

Commenting on the present political system, Urs said that the leaders are keen about accumulating land and wealth than concentrating on developmental works for the society and gaining affection of people. She said, she would neither pressurise the party to give ticket to her son or daughter nor the people to elect them.

“It is up to the party and people to decide whether they should contest in elections.”Regarding S M Krishna’s arrival to state politics, she said, being an able administrator, he should put in his experience for welfare of the party and people gaining confidence of all the communities of the society.

Daughter of Chandraprabha Urs Anupama urs, Congress workers Bilikere Raju, Latha Mohan, former Zoo Authority of Karnataka chairman Susheela Keshavamurthy and others were present.
