Power cuts till month-end in east, central Delhi

Last Updated 14 November 2012, 20:32 IST

Densely populated areas of east and central Delhi should brace up for power interruptions as the modernisation work will be taken up at Daryaganj Grid in central Delhi from Thursday.

According to BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL), the modernisation of its  66/11 KV Daryaganj Grid sub-station will take 15 days.

“The modernisation work on the grid will get completed by November 30. The work will take place between 10 am and 5 pm,”said BYPL spokesperson.

“Though BYPL is making arrangements to back-feed the area through an alternate source, still there is a possibility that Daryaganj and the adjoining areas may face sporadic outages.”

The upgrading of the grid is being undertaken following an internal assessment which revealed that the power demand in Daryaganj and adjoining areas increases substantially during the summer months.

The existing oil filled circuit breakers and panels at BYPL’s Daryaganj Grid will be replaced with next generation gas filled SFS vacuum circuit breakers and panels. It is expected to ensure uninterrupted power supply during peak summer months.
