<p>Describing the Wednesday’s gunbattle between the police and Maoists at Mohana in Odisha’s Gajapati district as a “fake encounter”, activists have strongly demanded a judicial probe into the incident. <br /><br /></p>.<p>“There should be a judicial probe into this fake police encounter and persons responsible for the incident should be punished,” said activist Prafulla Samantaray. <br /><br />They (the activists) have also demanded financial compensation for the family members of those who were killed in the gun battle. <br /><br />The police had shot dead five Maoists during the encounter and all of them were identified as residents of Kandhamal district. The killed red rebels were members Odisha Maoists’ Party(OMP), a newly floated Maoist outfit headed by Sabyasachi Panda, the most wanted Maoist leader in Odisha.</p>
