Both are political novices and contested LS polls for the first time. Both won with a comfortabl margin- Raghavendra with over 51,000 votes and Kateel with 42,420 votes. Raghavendra (36) is the eldest son of Yeddyurappa. Kateel (41) has been with the RSS for last two decades. Former CM Bangarappa had been MP from Shimoga for five times. He had registered victory irrespective of the party he represented. Similarly, Poojary had won from Mangalore four times as the Congressman.
