Spicmacay concert from today

The Mangalore chapter of Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) will organise a concert of a mix of African, Indian, Asian and European origins, on November 19, 20 and 21.

According to a press release, New Jungle Orchestra, formed in 1980 and named after the ‘growling jungle' sound of Duke Ellington's genre of jazz, is an elegant performance of a variety of instruments, unique individually and even more so as a part of this group. The concert will see Pierre Doerge on Conductor and Guitar; Shashank Subramanyam on Indian Bamboo Flute; Helle (Irene) Becker on Keyboard; Morten Carlsen on Tenor Saxophone and Taragot; Jakob Mygind on Soprano and Tenor Saxophone; Anders Banke on Clarinet and Bass Clarinet and Martin Andersen on drums and percussion. The concert will be held at JNV, Mudipu (4 pm) on November 19; NITK on November 20 (6 pm) and Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vidyanagar, Kasaragod on November 21 (11.30 am).
