Body found in decomposed condition

An unidentified decomposed body of a woman, aged between 30 and 35 years, was found at Yamuna river bank near Geeta Colony in east Delhi where the preparations for Chhat Puja have been made.

Few people found the victim’s body while they were cleaning up the river bank for the festival on Sunday morning. “The body was in a highly decomposed condition,” said a police officer.

The body has been sent to mortuary at Sabzi Mandi.

“The victim might have been killed and then dumped later to the bank, however, it is too early to say anything,” said the officer.

Police also suspect that the woman was killed somewhere else and later the body reached the Geeta Colony ghat floating in the water.

They are questioning people living in the nearby slum area and trying to identify the victim.
