<p>Unidentified miscreants assaulted an auto driver, near Surathkal on Tuesday night. <br /><br />According to the police, the injured is Ismail. The incident occured when he was returning home. A group of six members waylaid him and assaulted him. Ismail has been admitted to Srinivas Hospital in Mukka. He was active member of Jaya Karnataka association. A case has been registered. <br /><br />Chain snatching<br /><br />Two unidentified miscreants snatched two chains worth Rs 1.5 lakh belonging to Celestine Pereira at Pernal near Shirva on Tuesday. <br /><br />According to police, the incident took place when Celestine Pereira was returning home after attending St Mary feast at Pernal Church in Shirva.<br /><br />The miscreants who came on bike snatched away the chains worn by Celestine Pereira near Adivasi education center at around 9.30 pm.
