Five of a family crushed to death

Five members of a family, including a 95-year-old woman and a Gram Panchayat member, were killed when the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a bus at Jodugatte, Magadi on Saturday evening.

Ramakrishna Rao, 50, a member of the Gudemaranahalli Gram Panchayat, his aunt Chandra Bai, 70, grandmother Sharada Bai, 95, relative Chandrika Bai, 65, and daughter Likhita Rao, 18, are the dead. All of them hailed from Garageshapura, a tiny village next to Gudemaranahalli near Magadi.

They were on their way to a relative’s house at Savanadurga to attend a dinner. All the five were crushed to death on the spot.

None of the passengers in the bus were injured in the accident. The bus driver abandoned the bus and fled the scene.
