Elderly woman robbed of jewellery

A three-member gang trussed an elderly woman, who was alone at her home, with a saree and robbed her of valuables at MS Ramaiah Nagar  in the City Saturday night.

The victim Shanbhagam Rajan, 65, a native of Tamil Nadu, lives alone at her house.
Around 9 pm, three men knocked on her door and when she opened the door, they barged in and locked the door. After tying her limbs with a saree, they gagged her. 

The trio made away with two gold chains, three gold bangles and two finger rings she was wearing. They also took away Rs 1,500 in cash from the house.

Pretext

The robbers had come to the house on the pretext of enquiring whether she would rent out a portion of her house, the police said.

It took more than an hour for the elederly woman to free herself. On being informed, her neighbours alerted the police. The Yeshwantpur police, who have registered a case, said the Hindi-speaking robbers were in their mid-20s.
