A youth was murdered by his three roommates at central Delhi’s Kamla Market area on Friday for secretly talking to a woman known to one of the accused.

Police have arrested two of the accused, while one is absconding.
Victim Rajpal, who hails from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, was working with a screen printing unit on Asaf Ali Road as a card printer.

According to Devesh Chandra Srivastva, additional commissioner of police (central), investigation was taken up after Rajpal was found dead with his throat slit at Shastri Park on Asaf Ali Road.

“Probe led to the arrest of Hevbi Lal, 24, and his 20-year-old accomplice Devender. One of their accomplices Vijali is absconding. They have confessed to have killing Rajpal for stealing, and subsequently publicising the contact details of a Bihar-based woman with whom Rajpal and Hevbi engaged in surreptitious sex chats,” Srivastva said.

On account of some witnesses, it was ascertained that he was working with a screen printing unit.

A man named Sunil Kumar Pandit working there told police that he had last seen Rajpal with Hevbi, Devender and Vijali around 9 pm on Friday.

Thereafter, police teams apprehended Devender and Hevbi. They told police that they had killed Rajpal in connivance with Vijali.

The accused told police that Hevbi used to have sexually-explicit chats with a woman based in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district.

‘Brag about chats’
She was referred as bhabhiji and Hevbi used to boast of the chats with her in the company of his friends.

“Rajpal secretly took her number from Hevbi’s mobile phone and started talking with Bhabhiji. He had even distributed her number to some of his other friends,” said Srivastva added.

“He also told the woman that Hevbi was, in fact, married with two children. Learning this, she stopped talking to Hevbi,” Srivastva added.

On the other hand, according to police, Devender wanted Rajpal to work at his factory. But the victim refused to change his job and work with him.

This angered Devender as he realised this would cause him a substantial financial loss.
So, police claimed, on the fateful evening, they decided to kill Rajpal after inviting him for a liquor party.

“When Rajpal was completely under the influence of alcohol, they took him to Shastri Park on Asaf Ali Road where Hevbi and Vijali caught hold of his limbs while Devender slit his throat,” Srivastva said.

Victim’s stolen mobile phone and knife used in commission of the murder have been recovered.
