JOIN USQualifier Mukund S Kumar caused the lone upset of the day, ousting fourth-seeded Sameep Maheta in straight sets to storm into the semifinals of the AITA men’s 30K tournament at the Raghuveer Tennis Academy here on Wednesday.
Mukund produced a fine display to defeat Maheta 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to set up a last-four date with Vikram Naidu B S.
Second seed Naidu faced little problems in slamming the door on Vignesh Prabhu, scoring a 6-3, 6-4 win, while top seed Suraj R Prabodh battled past a stubborn Nishanth Anthony Rebello 7-6, 7-5.
Rasheim Samuel eased past Jay Soni 6-1, 6-3 in the other quarterfinal.
