HC notice to BDA, BBMP

Last Updated 29 November 2012, 19:30 IST

The High Court of Karnataka has ordered notice to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), in a petition by residents of MLA Layout on BEL Road, seeking road connectivity.

The division bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna warned the officers of the two civic bodies of contempt action for submitting a false affidavit and has directed the chief engineer of BDA to appear before the court.

The petitioners had submitted that a huge apartment cluster had encroached upon the road, depriving them of connectivity.

Following the directions by the court in the previous hearing, the BDA had submitted an affidavit stating that it would construct a new road for the benefit of the residents. However, the bench, on finding out that it was a false affidavit, lashed out at the officials.
