'BSY will regret decision'

BJP national general secretary H N Ananth Kumar said on Sunday that those who have left the party will regret in the near future, in an indirect reference to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who has quit the BJP to form his own party.

Kumar was speaking at the felicitation ceremony for Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar organised by the Shimoga City and Rural units of the party.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “His decision to quit the BJP has pained me a lot as we built the party together for 40 years. However, we can’t go to the extent of quitting the party, which we call mother, for the sake of an individual. He got into a fix due to self-made mistakes and took wrong decisions. I am sure he will have regrets in the near future.”

Comparing the present political crisis to an eclipse, he said like the eclipse which is not permanent, political uncertainties are also temporary. However, the party workers should not worry about the crisis. They should always be loyal to the party.

Activists are the real strength of any leader. BJP has five crore registered workers in the country and it has 10 crore followers. BJP is neither a party of father and sons, (JD-S) nor of mother and children (Congress).

“We should take an oath today that we will be loyal to the party under any circumstances. We will visit all taluks in the State and strengthen the party.”

He urged the Congress-led UPA government to table the revised Bill in Parliament that grants special status to Hyderabad-Karnataka region at the earliest.

BJP will support the bill without fail. Instead of doing this, Congress leaders are trying to politicise the issue, he alleged.
