Officer caught taking bribe

The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested a local revenue official for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 200.

Ramkalyan Meena was arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe on Wednesday for issuing an updated copy of the account of agricultural land (Jamabandi), additional superintendent of police Jassaram Boss said on Thursday.

Meena had taken Rs 1,200 two months ago from Rajendra Singh for providing him with a copy of the Jamabandi for his plot of agricultural land in Ghota gram panchayat, Boss said.

However, Singh got an incorrect copy after which he asked Meena to issue the document afresh with the corrections. For this, Patwari allegedly demanded an additional Rs 200, prompting Singh to go to police.

Singh met Meena at a tea stall on the Lekhari–Bundi road where officials caught him while allegedly taking bribe, Boss said.
