Last Updated 09 October 2009, 19:18 IST

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, the seer said the mutt was already distributing clothes, food and other essential material in flood-hit villages.

Rs 10 lakh

“I have visited flood-hit villages in Siraguppa taluk in Bellary district, Ron taluk in Gadag district, and Sindhanur taluk in Raichur district and Mantralaya. Devotees of the mutt have already collected about Rs 10 lakh from the public for the benefit of the flood victims. I will conduct a padayatra to collect donations in several places. I will also ask other mutts in Udupi to join hands in flood relief works. The process of constructing houses will begin as soon as the government gives green signal. We are also thinking to send teams of doctors to flood-hit areas to check the spread of diseases there,” he noted.
