Plaint filed against KSE

Last Updated 13 December 2012, 17:53 IST

A city-based advocate filed a complaint in the District Lokayukta Special Court on Thursday, accusing Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa, who is also the Shimoga City MLA, of amassing property worth crores of rupees by abusing his position.

The court will decide whether to admit the plea or not on December 15. The complainant, B Vinod, has made Eshwarappa, the first accused, his son K E Kantesh, the second accused and his daughter-in law Shalini, the third accused. The complaint says that Eshwarappa amassed illegal wealth in the name of his son and daughter-in law.

After hearing the arguments from the complainant, Principal District and Sessions Judge R M Shettar, who is also the District Lokayukta Special Court Judge, posted the matter to December 15 for further orders.

In the complaint, Vinod has questioned the sources of income of Eshwarappa and has urged the court to direct the Lokayukta police to probe the sources of income of Kantesh and Shalini.

Vinod said that Eshwarappa had an ancestral house in Shimoga City before 2006. Soon after coming to power in 2008, he purchased assets worth crores of rupees, disproportionate to known sources of income, in the name of his family members by abusing power.
