Teams of officials from the Income Tax department conducted simultaneous raids on the residence and commercial establishments of Women and Child Development minister, Kalakappa Bandi, here on Friday.
The team, comprising about 20 officials, swooped down on the petrol bunk, drug house, timber yard and a prestigious hospital in the town at 11 am. The sleuths searched the commercial establishments said to be owned by the minister and his brother Siddanna Bandi till 7 pm, but were unable to lay their hands on any incriminating evidence.
However, it is said some ‘crucial documents’ were seized during the raid on the hospital.
