South United Football Club and defending champions KGF Academy played out a 1-1 draw in the BDFA Super Division League at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Sunday.

The draw took South United to four points from three matches, while KGF have two from three games.

KGF surged ahead in the fifth minute as Rajesh latched on to a pass from Prathap and shot past rival custodian Harpreet Singh from the edge of the box.

South United drew level soon through Manivannan in the 11th minute. The midfielder had ample time to pick his spot after a clearance from a free-kick left him unmarked in the box and his shot rebounded off the right post and trickled into the net.

South United came close to scoring again in the 29th minute. However, Stephen’s header hit the post. They missed another fine opportunity when Manivannan volley-ed over.

Earlier, LRDE and BUFC were locked in a goalless draw in the ‘A’ Division.
Monday’s matches: A Division: Bangalore Mars vs SAI (1.00 pm).
Super Division: Postal vs DYSS (3.00 pm).
