A mother and her two-year-old son were injured after a ceiling of an under-construction five-storeyed building in north-east Delhi’s Shastri Park fell on them on Sunday afternoon.
The incident took place at around 2 pm when Shahnaz, 23, house owner’s wife along with two-year-old son Faiz, went to inspect the construction of their building at lane number 10 at Shastri Park.
Balcony falls
They were standing in the balcony of the fifth floor that was illegally constructed, when the ceiling fell on them bringing them to the ground floor.
The neighbours informed police.
“We rescued the mother and son and rushed them to a nearby hospital,” said a police officer.
They were rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital from where they were referred to Sushruta Trauma Centre after their condition deteriorated. “They are still in critical situation and undergoing treatment,” said the officer.
During investigation, police found that Aamir, husband of injured woman had hired
contractor to renovate their house.
Inspecting work
They had shifted to an adjacent building on rent and were inspecting the construction daily.
On Sunday, his wife carrying the kid went to see the progress when the ceiling fell on them.
A case has been registered against the contractor withNew Usmanpur police station for illegal construction. Police are investigaing the matter and a search is on to nab him.
