Swashbuckling batsman Arjun Hoysala found his career best knock of 233 not out, which inspired the Bangalore University to register a massive 260 runs victory over Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation University, Vaddeswaram, on the fifth day of the South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament at NITK Surathkal Ground-2 on Wednesday.

Opted to bat first, Bangalore varsity piled up 428 runs in 50 overs against the sub standard attack of Vaddeswaram boys for the loss of four wickets, with the help of double ton from Arjun, who was aptly supported by Stalin, who scored 64 runs.

The left-hander, who faced the first and last ball of his team’s innings, batted for more than three and half hours, facing 162 balls, of which 29 found their place beyond the boundary line. Arjun, who represented Karnataka in Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 age categories, also played for Belgaum Panthers in the Karnataka Premier League, state’s premier T-20 championship. The left-hander batsman played shots handsomely, showing a great level of fitness too.

He did that with a flourish to better his previous best of 157 against Bishop Cotton in the Parle Trophy way back in 2005. The hard-hitting Masters in Business Administration student of Surana College said he was working hard to get into the Ranji side.
The KLEFU put chilly paste over their wound as the umpires Vasanth Raj Prakash and Pavithra Kumar awarded 16 runs as penalty for slow over rate.

In reply, KLEFU managed to score just 168 in 36 overs. Right hand middle order batsman Jayadrath scored 70 runs for the Andhra team.

Hosts Manipal University moved up with a 139-run win over MANU University from Hyderabad. Put in to bat, the host batsmen scored 251 in 49.3 overs. Good knocks came from Mayank Dayal who made a 72-ball 72 with eight fours and two sixes, Nishanth V who made a 58-ball 58 with eight fours and Bharat Negi who contributed 40. In reply, the Hyderabad lads were shot out for 112. Yeshraj Sharma and Sumit Agarwal shared three wickets each and Arif Musoor picked up two.
