Penalty for ticketless travelling

Last Updated 19 December 2012, 19:59 IST

The checking staff of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) have intensified the inspection of ticketless travellers in buses operated in and around Bangalore City.

During November, they checked 19,093 trips and penalised 6,143 ticketless passengers by collecting a sum of Rs 7,25,030 as penalty and booked 3,666 cases against conductors, for initiating disciplinary action.

The BMTC has requested passengers to travel in BMTC buses with valid tickets, day pass or monthly pass, as it would help the Corporation to provide better services to the travelling public.
