The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Thursday entered into an agreement with Hanjer Bio-tech Energies Private Limited to install, commission, operate and maintain a fully automated garbage segregation plant.
The Palike in a press note said that the segregation unit, which will be set up on survey number 143 of Kumbalgodu village in Subbarayanapalya, will have a capacity to process at least 750 tonnes of municipal solid waste every day.
The firm has agreed to segregate mixed waste into dry and wet waste. While the dry waste will be recycled or converted into plastic ingots and sand, wet waste will be processed for compost.
