RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has told cadres, at the national executive meet in Bihar’s Rajgir town, that he expected the BJP to “return to normal soon”.

Madhav denied that Bhagwat had told the RSS members they were free to endorse any political party on the basis of its policy and programmes in the national interest.

“No such statement was made by the RSS chief,” Madhav said. The RSS’ three-day national executive ended on Sunday at Rajgir. Earlier, a RSS source said: “The cadres were told that there was no compulsion to support the BJP.”

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said:  “Yesterday (Saturday), I, myself was present in the meeting and what Mohan Bhagwat said was that whatever little problems the BJP is having will be resolved soon and the party will continue to become a major force in Indian politics with renewed vigour.”

About India’s response to the alleged acts of aggression by China, the RSS said it is “grossly inadequate” and asked the government to take immediate steps to strengthen the frontiers. “It is necessary to enhance response capability of our forces on the Sino-Indian border in the face of huge military built-up by China.
