Balancing Act

With a new semester just round the corner, professional and degree students are gearing up for new challenges and a fresh start. While the final-year students are anxious about getting placed and their last few days in the college, others are excited about the array of activities that have been lined up for the new semester.

Dhanush, an engineering student of BMS College of Engineering who will soon enter the final semester, says it is going to be a balancing act for him.

“Finally, it is the last semester and only a few more months are left for me in college. It is going to be all about  projects, placements and job hunting. For those who want to pursue their higher studies, it will be tough as they have to prepare for the entrance examinations and the interview,” he adds.

“The work load is less compared to other semesters. Nevertheless, it is one of the most important phases of engineering as we need to decide what we want in the future. Every decision we make now is going to play an important role in future,” he explains.

“I am looking forward to the placements and a lot of other things this semester. We will also be organising our inter-collegiate fest, which will be held in February. We have very little time left,” says Rahul, a degree student of MES College.

Most of all, the students are relieved that their examinations are over and are busy catching up with their friends.

“I am really happy that exams are finally over. The constant change in the timetable was a nightmare but we managed pretty well. I am looking forward to a lot of things in the next semester. We will have some interesting subjects to choose from. Along with that, we will have a wide array of cultural activities and the entire college is excited about it,” says Chaitra, a second-year degree student.

Niroop, an electrical engineering student, says, “First and foremost, I want to know if my subjects are going to be easy or tough as this will be my final semester. We have to do a project and present a seminar. I am especially excited about the project as I get to apply my theoretical knowledge in it.

The project as well as the seminar carry 200 marks altogether and I am looking forward to scoring at least 195 or 200 so that my aggregate score can improve. Also, in the next semester, we will have our college fest ‘Verve’. We want to take it to a higher level this time,” he adds. It is clear that the next semester will be a busy one for many students
