Amid continuing national outrage against sexual attack on women, three incidents of rapes were reported today in Karnataka.

Three persons have been arrested in connection with the incidents, two of which occurred in the past fortnight but came to light today, police said.

A 13-year-old girl in Kattaya village in Hassan was on December 18 raped allegedly by a man who was asked by her mother to drop her at school. The absconding man, who had threatened the girl not to disclose the incident, was arrested today.

In Hira village of the Raichur district, a man raped a housewife with the help of two of his associates on December 28 while two persons sexually assaulted a maid servant in their estate in Madikeri today, police said.

Raichur police said the victim was raped in her field on December 28 night and the trio returned to her house next day and threatened her against lodging police complaint.

When the victim along with her husband approached the Shirva police, the jurisdictional police station, the personnel there allegedly refused to register a complaint.

After the couple approached higher police officials the next day, the woman was sent to medical examination.

North-Eastern Range IGP Wazir Ahmed said a case had been registered and an investigation was on.

In Madikeri, the maid servant was allegedly raped by the houseowner and his associate this morning.

Superintendent of Police Manjunath Annigeri said the duo had been arrested.
