Auto driver misbehaves with woman, arrested

The Commercial Street police arrested an autorickshaw driver Saturday night for allegedly misbehaving with a woman passenger.

The suspect identified as Nawaz, 26, a resident of Cauvery Nagar in Banashankari was produced before the 11th Additional City Metropolitan Magistrate Court and remanded in judicial custody, the police said.

Vishakh Vandana who works at a private firm on Cunningham Road hired an auto near her office at 9:40 pm. She wanted to go to Metro Station on MG Road, from where she would board the train to Baiyyapanahalli.

The auto driver allegedly stopped the vehicle on Infantry Road and told her that he had run out of fuel. Soon after she got down from the auto, he allegedly held her hand and misbehaved with her. A shocked Vishakh cried for help. A few passersby rushed to the spot and thrashed the driver. He was later handed over to the police.
