The home side was leading 1-0 at one point but went down 1-3 after half-time. Just when it seemed United’s two-match winning streak is nearing its end, Subrata Bhattacharya’s boys bounced back and pumped in two goals to deny the Mumbai side full three points.

The hosts scored through Man-of-the-Match Jayanta Sen (12th), Gauranga Dutta (67th) and Joshimar da Silva Martins (75th). For the Cooperage outfit, N D Opara scored a brace in the 42nd and 49th minutes, while Dada Nabeel scored team’s first goal in the 18th minute.

The one-point from the draw enabled the Chirag United outfit to remain unscathed on the lead spot where they share the pole position with Dempo and JCT with seven points each. With one win (against Pune) and the draw today, the Bimal Ghosh-coached team have four points. United were unlucky not to win the match as they missed a couple of chances early into the first-half.

In the second minute, United got an early chance to take the lead. A mistake from Air India midfielder Benham Foroughirad gave United striker Joshimar a golden chance to strike but the Brazilian shot high to miss the net. United again looked to attack with Shylo Malswam Tulunga surging from the right in the fourth minute. Joshimar headed down the ball but this time Edmilson hit the bar.
