A 25-year-old Delhi Police woman sub-inspector was found dead in mysterious circumstances at her husband’s place in Gujarat’s Gandhi Nagar this week, police said.

While her husband, who is an Assistant Commandant of Border Security Force, said she committed suicide, the victim’s family members in Delhi alleged murder.

Preeti Dhaka, who was posted at south-east Delhi’s Sarita Vihar police station as a sub-inspector, left for Gandhi Nagar to meet her husband Sunil Kumar last week after taking leave from duty for a few days.
Senior police officers said that BSF officials on Saturday informed them that Preeti Dhaka committed suicide at her husband’s place, and local police at Gandhi Nagar were probing the matter.

Preeti Dhaka, who hails from Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu, was living alone at Sarita Vihar police station colony. She joined the force in 2010-end. She was serving her probationary period at Sarita Vihar police station, and a few months ago she completed her training.  She married Sunil Kumar on November 30 last year, and after the wedding she went to her husband’s place for few months, returned and then joined service in Delhi again.

During her stay at her husband’s place soon after marriage, they had differences, police said. Her husband again called her, so she took leave and went to meet him, following which she allegedly committed suicide there, said a police officer. According to police, her colleagues said she was happy and lively and there was no sign of depression.

“We have informed the victim’s family members at her native place, who alleged that her husband had problems with her working on her own. We have also sent two team members to Gandhi Nagar,” said a senior police officer. Police said a team of both Delhi Police and Gandhi Nagar police will jointly probe the matter.
