A notorious rowdy was shot and wounded by police at Binny Mill early saturday morning.
Jayaram, 28, had been staying at the Mill canteen, when City police raided the premises, following a tip-off.

Jayaram was shot in his left leg when he tried to attack the police. He was arrested later near the Mill.

KP Agrahara police inspector B U Pradeep, who was on patrol Friday night, was tipped off about Jayaram’s presence at the Mill. With a team of four policemen, Pradeep raided the grounds.

While trying to escape, Jayaram injured Pradeep’s left hand with a dagger. Pradeep, in self-defence, fired in the air. When Jayaram tried to attack him again, Pradeep shot at his left leg, the police said. Jayaram collapsed and three to four of his associates who were with him fled the scene.

Jayaram and Pradeep have been admitted to Victoria Hospital. Jayaram is accused in 15 cases, including murder, dacoity, extortion and burglary in various police stations across the City. A case is pending in Tamil Nadu.
