<p>More than 400 children and youths participated in the third edition of the painting and drawing competition organised by Deccan Herald and Prajavani in association with Chitrakala Parishath on Sunday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>While the theme was open, majority of the participants painted landscapes. Rajendra Babu Prasad, a member of the jury, said: “It was, indeed, difficult to assess the works, as all were equally good. This year, most of the participants decided to draw on themes related to environmental degradation and global warming,” he said. <br /><br />Classes in arts and crafts categories, calligraphy, origami and mask-making were conducted at stalls. <br /><br />Ravi Naik, who travelled from Raichur to take part in the painting competition for the second consecutive year, said: “This time, I drew a landscape of Hampi with water colours. It was wonderful to participate in the painting competition. It’s a perfect platform for talented artists to exhibit their skills on canvas. Last year, I got the third prize, in the adults’ category.” <br /><br />Winners<br /><br />The drawing competition was held in three categories: juniors (5–10), seniors (10–15) and adults (15 and above). Under the juniors category, S Keerthana of Prarthana School won the first place; R Rohit of the National Hill View Public School and R Smiksha of the Jalahalli Clung Canteen won the second place; and M R Suchita and G R Shreya Shetty, the third prize. In the senior’s category, Revathy M S of the Vidyaniketan Public School, won the first prize; P J Mridul and S Sukanya Shetty the second prize; and M N Vishnuteertha, K Suketh and Apeksha Pai the third prize.<br /><br />In the adult’s category, Ravi Naik of the Milton Public School won the first place; N Manu of Christ Junior College the second; and R Harshita, B Kalyani and Vimala S Shetty the third prizes. <br /><br />Several others were awarded consolation prizes. R Sridhar, the chief administrative officer of the Chitrakala Parishath and players from the Indian blind cricket team distributed prizes to winners.</p>
