He lambasted the Parliament for bringing about amendments to the Prevention of Corruption Act and diluting the Act instead of strengthening it. “Corruption is not merely an aggrandisement of the bank balance, but economic and social rights violation,” he said.
He further stated that the corrupt should be socially ostracised, so that they did not enjoy the fruit of their misdeeds.
Lokayukta Santhosh Hegde said no democracy would work unless the citizens asked questions . “The essence of our constitution is fine, it is the way we are using it that is the problem,” he added.
