'Journalists must uphold ethics'

Speaking at the 8th anniversary of Kodagu Pathrika Bhavana Trust at Madikeri on Thursday, Shobha said that the society looks down at journalism, because of the selfishness of few journalists. Meanwhile, the mass media forget the social responsibility in order to increase its viewership through breaking news. This is in reality a dangerous phenomenon, she added. She called upon journalists not to work with the intention of becoming rich.

“Journalists should always strive to bring reformation in the society through true and fair journalism,” she suggested.

‘Sudha’ Weekly assistant editor B M Hanif inaugurated thee programme while Kodagu Pathrika Bhavana Trust managing trustee T P Ramesh delivered the keynote address.

District Working Journalists Union president Chi Na Somesh, Kodagu Press Club president H T Anil, journalist Elasooru Udayakumar, Jeevan Chinnappa, Trust generral secretary G Chidvilas and treasurer Jagadish Belyappa were present.
