MLC M C Nanaiah has urged the District-in-Charge Minister Appachu Ranjan to initiate measures against corrupt PWD engineers in Kodagu.

Speaking at KDP review meeting here on Tuesday, he said funds have been released for the development of roads in the district. However, the engineers are producing fake bills to the government and are looting the money in the name of filling potholes. A superintending engineer had submitted a report on corrupt engineers to the government. However, the government had suppressed the report.

Nanaiah said “an engineer in the PWD has taken up the contract of road work. He has received tender for repairing the roads in and around Madikeri. In the name of development of roads, he has been looting crores of rupees.”

“A few engineers have been serving in the district for the last 12 to 13years. I had written a letter to the government against them. Accordingly, the government has trasferred a few to Arakalagoodu. They are trying to get stay order against transfer,” he said. Reacting to it, District-in-Charge Minister Appachu Ranjan said that if the corrupt officials come back to Kodagu, then they will not be entertained.

Nanaiah said that an officer who was suspended in connection with the theft of 30,000 litre kerosene in Virajpet taluk has been reinstated in the district.
To which, AC G Prabhu said that the inquiry report has been submitted to the DC.

The inquiry on illegal transportation of wooden logs using 146 fake licenses in Virajpet is being delayed.

Ranjan expressed displeasure over delay in implementing Kundamestri drinking water project.

Zilla Panchayat President B Shivappa, Vice president Usha Devamma, Deputy Commissioner Dr N V Prasad, ZP CEO K B Anjanappa and others were present.
