Around 30 people from Mandur village, including members of the Gram Panchayat (GP), will meet Mahadevapura MLA and Health Minister Aravinda Limbavali on Monday at his residence, in connection with the dumping of garbage at their village.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Chandrashekar, a member of the GP, said they were against dumping waste here, but they will decide about the future course of action only after a talk with the minister.

Continued dumping

“We are planning to discuss with him about the dumping of garbage that is continuing in the area, despite the promises made by BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah and the ministers. We want the minister’s support and in case, the government doesn’t withdraw its decision, we will hold protests in the coming days,” Chandrashekar said.

He said thick smoke continued to emanate out of the Mandur landfill, where heaps of garbage, spread over about 10 acres, accidentally caught fire on Friday.
