A festival for comic lovers

Enthralling the audience in its first two editions, the third Annual Indian Comics Convention is all set to entertain the audience once again. It will bring some of the best international comic publishers like Top Cow, Drawn and Quarterly, Fantagraphics, First Second, Self Made Hero and Vertical Inc., exclusively at the festival which will be held at Delli Haat from February 8-10.

The three-day-long event will have an interesting segment the Artists’ Alley which will feature an awesome gathering of artists, illustrators, designers working for comics and related popular arts fields.Famous International personalities like Matt Hawkins, President and COO of Top Cow Productions; Peggy Burns, Associate Publisher of the renowned graphic novel publisher Drawn and Quarterly will be taking special sessions at the event.

Also stalls exhibiting, promoting and selling comics, graphic novels and merchandise will be there to make the event more colourful. There will be workshops and interactive sessions every hour at the dedicated stage area with exclusive launches of comics titles, book signings and competitions.

Another major attraction at Comic Con will be Cosplay, the costume play contest which has been revamped this year. Each day winners will be chosen in five categories- comic book/graphic novel, animated series/movie, manga/anime, Sci-Fi/fantasy and gaming. Also, adding more fun to the event is Amar Chitra Katha which will be conducting fun activities such as games, arts and crafts, making comics and live sketching throughout these three days.

Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India, was happy to share that they will have a world famous Manga publisher coming for the first time in India. “Manga and Anime have tremendous following in India and this year we are really pushing to increase the genre’s presence at our event.”
