<p>The idol was found when renovation work was being carried out around the anthill at the temple which is in a dilapidated condition. Totigara Narayanappa was carrying out the renovation work when he found the idol. <br /><br />Hundreds of villagers from neighbouring villages gathered as soon as the word spread. The villagers also conveyed this to tahsildar and police. Tahsildar Jayamadhava and Nanguli Police station sub-inspector Sanjeevaiah rushed to the spot and inspected the idol.<br />The official however handed over the idol to villagers when one Gopal, on behalf of the villagers requested Jayamadhava to allow villagers to worship the goddess.<br /></p>
