A 16-year-old girl has been kidnapped and raped and a 25-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by her ex-colleague in two cases in the Capital, police said on Monday.

The first incident took place at Begumpur in outer Delhi where a man kidnapped his neighbour and raped her for seven days.

The girl is a student of class 10 in a government school and she went missing on January 25. Her family members approached Begumpur police station after she did not return home from school, and registered a missing complaint.

Both police and her parents started looking for her but she was untraceable. On Saturday, police got a tip-off that the victim was confined in a house near her home.
“We conducted a raid and rescued the girl. We found that the girl was being confined in the house,” said the officer.

On basis of the girl’s statement and medical examination, a case of rape has been registered and accused Gang Ram, 38, was arrested. “He has been charged for kidnapping and then raping the victim,” said a police officer.

Assault by ex-colleague

A 26-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by her ex-colleague at Narela in outer Delhi on Monday. A police official said accused Sanjay Kumar was arrested and a rape case against him was registered with the local police station.

The woman lives in Swatantra Nagar and worked in a factory with the accused. She has alleged that the accused after befriending her, sexually assaulted her a month ago. She kept quiet and decided to quit the job.

But on Saturday, the victim told police that Sanjay came to her house again on pretext of saying sorry to her but he raped her again. She then approached police and registered a complaint.

After the victim’s medical examination confirmed rape, Sanjay was arrested on Monday and sent to jail.
