Inter-state thieves arrested

The Central Division police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a gang of 19 inter-state thieves and recovered Rs 7 lakh and electronic goods.

The suspects allegedly circulated counterfeit currency notes and robbed citizens of their valuables by diverting their attention. Dinakaran, Ayyappan, Rukman, Shafi, Shanmugam, Ranjith Kumar, Rajkamal Sahu, Gunachandran, Jagadish, Elil Kumar, Loganathan, Lokeshwaran, Manikandan, Ganesan, Jayaraman, Delhi Rajan, Sunil Kumar, Anandan, and David, all from Tamil Nadu, are the arrested. They were also involved in crimes in different parts of the country.

They allegedly circulated counterfeit notes in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal. They would throw Rs 10 note near wheels of four-wheelers to divert attention of the drivers and lift valuables kept in the vehicles.

Bike rider killed

Shafiulla Khan, 40, a resident of Bharathinagar, was killed on the spot when a BMTC bus knocked him down from the two-wheeler he was riding on Kensington Road on Wednesday evening. He was returning home when the accident occurred.
The police have arrested the bus driver.
