Many films in Sandalwood are going for the retro look. Joining the bandwagon is Devrane, in which the lead pair, Neettoo and Ravishankar, have dressed up in colourful clothes and donned a retro look for a peppy number. Talking to Metrolife, the actress says, “It was great fun shooting for this song. I love retro numbers — they are catchy and peppy. This particular song is packed with comedy and is really energetic. I am sure the audience will love it.” 

The movie, however, is a comedy and is about a god man called Kitte Swamy (played by Ravishankar).

People end up following him blindly. Until, Chitte Rani (played by Neettoo) comes into his life. “My character in this film is of a very homely girl, who has a dosha in her horoscope. So she goes to this swamy and ends up falling in love with him. The movie has no resemblance to any real life incident. But what is really good about this film is that through the humour, the movie actually sends a very strong message,” she adds.

But Neettoo admits that she was very nervous while shooting for the film. “The movie has a huge star cast of comedians like Ravishankar, Bullet Prakash, Sadhu Kokila and others. So, I was nervous as to whether I would be able to match up to their performances. It was also a challenging role as the sequences were so funny that half the time, I would end up bursting into laughter. I have learnt a lot from all of them and really picked up a few pointers. I have given it my best shot and hope the audience loves it,” she adds.

Of late, Neettoo has been seen in a lot of comedies. “There’s no particular reason for this. I love comedies but at the same time, I would love to do a serious drama or an art film as well,” says Neettoo.
