JOIN USSteep hike in milk, curd prices
The Karnataka Milk Federation announced a steep increase in Nandini milk price by Rs four to Rs 28 per litre for toned milk and increased the Samruddhi full cream milk by Rs two to Rs 36 with effect from Saturday morning.
The KMF said that the hike has been effected to help milk producing farmers in the aftermath of steep hike in diesel price. The price of DTM (double toned milk) for one litre has been increased to Rs 27 from Rs 23. Price of one litre homogenised milk has been increased to Rs 32 from Rs 28. Price of one kg curd has been increased to Rs 34 from Rs 30 and Buttermilk for 200 ml to Rs 6 from Rs 5.
G Somasekhara Reddy, chairman, KMF, has informed members of the milk unions to make use of the revision enabling milk producers’ to meet the growing high cost of milk production and to improve financial viability of the unions/units. The revised hike in milk prices would be effective in milk unions of Bangalore, Tumkur, Hassan Kolar, Mandya, Mysore and
Shimoga.
The MRP for toned milk and other variants has been hiked to Rs 29 in milk unions of Dakshina Kannada, Bellary, Dharwad and Belgaum except in Bijapur and Gulbarga where the price has been hiked to Rs 30.
KMF said that pre-revised MRP printed on milk sachet film will continue till the inventory is exhausted. The last hike in the price of milk was in February 2012.
