Threats drives Bescom engineer to suicide

An assistant engineer attached to the Bescom, Chikkaballapur, allegedly committed suicide at her house in Someshwar Nagar near Lalbagh, in Siddapura police limits on Thursday.

Police said Savitha Chinnappa, 26, stayed with two brothers, a sister and mother. When Savitha did not open the door when her mother knocked, she broke open the door with the help of the neighbours and found Savitha’s body hanging from the ceiling, the police said.

Savitha, in a death note, has alleged that two contractors pressured her to complete their works on priority basis and release the bills. When she refused, they threatened her, the note stated. Her death note stated that the contractors made her life miserable, the police said. The contractors absconded after a case was registered against them.
