A stand-off had arisen after KSCA president Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar had questioned the selection of the State T20 team that took part in the South Zone tournament in Visakhapatnam last month and appointed a one-man committee to conduct an enquiry.

The selection panel, chaired by former India stumper Syed Kirmani and also comprising PR Ashokanand, Raghuram Bhat and R Ananth had immediately tendered its resignation, a move that didn’t go down well with the Managing Committee.

The selectors had been told after last week’s Managing Committee meeting to withdraw their resignations and tender an apology. Another meeting on Friday reiterated the supremacy of the MC and its authority to question all concerned under its purview and on Sunday, it adopted another resultion that in future, the KSCA president would ratify every team selection across all levels.

Sunday’s MC meeting has authorised KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel to talk to the selectors, asking them to express regret and take their resignations back. The matter should be resolved on Monday, though whether to everyone’s satisfaction remains to be seen.
Ashokanand and Bhat, the two selectors who are also in the KSCA’s Managing Committee, understandably took no part in Sunday’s MC meeting discussions.
