AIDS Healthcare Foundation India Cares organised a ‘safe sex awareness’ programme on the occasion of International Condom Day on Wednesday at central Delhi’s G B Road and Great India Mall in Noida.

Being part of the annual event organised by AHF globally, it promoted the use of condom as a way to prevent HIV infection, and help partners protect themselves and their loved ones from sexually transmitted diseases.

Awareness activities

Free condom distribution, HIV testing, AIDS awareness activities and a flash mob by a group of Delhi University students were the major attractions of the event.

The event was attended by Congress leader Alka Lamba, who said people still hesitate to ask for condoms. “They should know that condoms are made for safety against HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. It’s not only an HIV-affected person who suffers, but the entire family is also affected,” she said.

The event was organised in association with the Delhi State AIDS Control Society and NGO Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust.
