Woman's decomposed body found

The highly decomposed body of a 42-year-old woman was found in an eucalyptus grove in the Chikkajala police limits on Friday.

The victim, Vijaya B, a resident of Nagashettyhalli, was working with a private firm in Electronics City.

She was married to Balakrishna Pai, a bank employee in Mahalakshmi Layout for 19 years. The couple, natives of Mangalore, have a daughter, police said.

Missing since Feb 12

A missing complaint was lodged with the Sanjaynagar police on February 12, when Vijaya did not return home from work.

A few local residents who noticed foul smell emanating from the eucalyptus  grove alerted the Chikkajala police.

“We traced the body, which was highly decomposed. Dogs had eaten some of the organs. The body was shifted to Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College for post mortem and the report is awaited,” said the Chikkajala police inspector.

An investigating officer said it could be a case of murder and are investigating.

Man murdered

In another incident at Dobbespet near Nelamangala, the body of a labourer, with his throat slit, was found on a farmland on February 14. Ranganath, 34, a resident of Bapujinagar, Dobbespet, had come home late in the night on February 14 and left after a while, it is learnt.

He did not return home after that, police said.
