Land scam: MLC presses for CBI inquiry

Last Updated 18 February 2013, 18:07 IST

Investigation of regional commissioner M V Jayanthi into Chamundi Hill land scam has not been satisfactory. Therefore, the case should be transferred either to Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) or Lokayukta, demanded BJP MLC Go Madhusudan here on Monday.

Addressing a press meet, he said that the report by the regional commissioner did not reveal the beneficiaries of the scam, nor forces that instigated the then deputy commissioner of the district P S Vastrad to decide in their favour. “Therefore, an independent agency like CBI should vet into the scam,” he demanded.

He urged that the previous deputy commissioner of the district P S Vastrad and  tahsildar Geetha Krishna should be placed under suspension and tried under the law of the country. “It is unfortunate that while the helicopter scam worth Rs 3,640 crore is being investigated by CBI, the land scam worth more than Rs 10,000 crore is not being investigated by the agency. The investigation has failed in unravelling the invisible hands behind the scam,” he said.

“I have written to the chief minister Jagadish Shettar demanding a fair inquiry into the scam,” he added.

“I am contemplating to produce all necessary documents with relation to the case to Lokayukta,” he said.

Charging that he had suspected the role of district in-charge minister S A Ramdas in the scam, he said, if the case is handed over to the CBI, the real culprits of the scam will be exposed.
