JD(S) MLA from Shravanabelagola C S Putte Gowda submitted his resignation from the Assembly membership to Speaker K G Bopaiah at Ponnampet near here Monday afternoon.

Gowda arrived in Ponnampet along with hundreds of his supporters. Speaking to reporters, he said, “I am submitting my resignation as I feel insulted in the party.”

The three-time legislator said the JD(S) leaders did not allow him to undertake development in his constituency, even though he had been an MLA for several years.

He said he had been ignored as there were plans to field a member of the Deve Gowda family from Shravanabelagola.

He said there was a suffocating environment in the party and that he was fighting to bring about change in all seven Assembly constituencies of Hassan district.

Other leaders were not speaking out against the loopholes in the party, Gowda added.
He dropped enough hints that he was joining the Congress and that he would work for the party, whether he gets the ticket to contest the polls or not.

Resignation accepted

Legislative Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah has accepted the resignation of Gowda.
According to a notification issued by Legislative Assembly Secretary P Omprakash in Bangalore, the Speaker has accepted Gowda’s resignation with immediate effect.
