Lochan spurs Cottonians

Lochan Appanna shone the brightest with a double ton and some useful bowling as Bishop Cotton Boys’ School crushed Delhi Public School (North) by 483 runs to enter the semifinals of the Dell-KSCA under-14 tournament for the BTR Shield.

In the quarterfinals played on Wednesday and Thursday, Cottons amassed 449 for four in 66 overs before declaring their innings closed. Lochan was the chief contributor to their huge total with 223 while Tanay Valmik scored 121.

Delhi Public School found the going tough against Abhishek Poll (6/27) as their innings folded up for a paltry 67 in 29 overs. Cottons declared their second innings at 148/3 from 29 overs, setting DPS an improbable target of 531 in the final innings of the match. DPS fared even worse, crashing to humiliating 47 all out in 27.3 overs. Lochan picked up three wickets without conceding a run to hasten Cottons’ win.

Cottons were joined by Frank Anthony Public School, St Joseph’s Indian High School and Presidency School (RT Nagar) in the last four.
