By a quirk of fate, a 40-year-old man from Bhalki taluk, who had been to Hyderabad in search of a job a fortnight ago, was killed in the blasts that rocked the Andhra Pradesh capital on Thursday night.

Padmakar Narayana Rao Kulkarni, a native of Bhatasangavi village, was killed as a bomb went off while he was coming out of Anand Tiffin Centre in Dilsukhnagar after having tea.

The father of four had joined a bakery in Hyderabad a couple of days ago where he used to prepare jalebis and earn Rs 150 daily, Kulkarani’s family members said.

When he did not return home till late at night on Thursday, his Hyderabad-based sister Sudha Joshi, who had learnt of the explosions through television news channels, went to the Osmania Hospital searching for her elder sibling. Her worst fears came true when she saw her brother’s body along with a few other corpses at the hospital.

She immediately telephoned her relatives in Bhalki and Bhatasangavi and informed them of the tragedy. On Friday morning, Kulkarni’s siblings and relatives left for Hyderabad and brought his body to Bhatasangavi after completing the legal formalities.
