<p>The State has requested the sanction of several new railway lines including a day train between Bangalore and Mangalore via Mysore and track doubling work on the Bangalore-Mangalore route via Arasikere.<br /><br /></p>.<p> In his letter to Union Minister for Railways, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has requested the sanction of new railway lines from Tumkur-Maddur via Kunigal; Tiptur-Dudda; Mangalore-Gulbarga via Hassan, Arasikere, Chitradurga, Hospet, Bellary and Raichur; Almatti-Koppal via Kudala Sangama; Bijapur-Athani; Bangalore-Shirdi via Tumkur, Davangere, Hubli, Bagalkot and Bijapur, among others.<br /><br />The State has also requested the transfer of the Mangalore zone from Southern Railway and Gulbarga zone from South Central Railway to South Western Railway. <br /></p>
