Candidates on door-to-door trail

Last Updated 01 March 2013, 18:13 IST

While top leaders of BJP are hitting the campaign trail day after day, Congress workers are waiting for their top leader Siddaramaiah to help create a similar electoral atmosphere. JD (S) candidates too have been left to toil for themselves.

On Friday, former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda and higher education minister C T Ravi campaigned in different parts of the City. Preceding the road show, Gowda took a dig at former chief minister and KJP leader B S Yeddyurappa for ‘Operation Kamala’. The exercise to woo legislators of other parties to ensure stability of the government then, with B S Yeddyurappa as chief minister was termed as ‘unfortunate development’ by Gowda. He even predicted KJP’s failure in the coming urban local body (ULB) polls.

Gowda also pronounced the fall out of Ka Pu Siddalinga Swamy, Yeddyurappa’s Man Friday, from KJP. Opposition leader Siddaramaiah will be releasing the election manifesto in the City on Saturday. He is also expected to stay in the City till the polls, to ensure party’s victory. He is also likely to take a call on the demand for ousting six leaders of the party who are in the fray against his diktat.

JD(S) lack any crowd-pullers. As a result, candidates are going door-to-door seeking votes themselves. However, the party’s State president H D Kumaraswamy is expected to campaign in the City a day or two. Campaigning is expected to be intensified on Sunday people are available at home.
